At Westdene we offer a broad and
balanced curriculum. All children are given a wide range of
opportunities and experiences and are encouraged to develop
the desire to learn.
High standards of teaching and
generous ancillary staffing ensure that children make good
progress within a caring and supportive environment.
We are concerned with the development of the whole child,
not only intellectually, but also physically, aesthetically,
socially and emotionally. We want our children to be recognised
as individuals, with their own unique insights and strengths.
Therefore we aim to :
-
Create a happy, stimulating environment in which to promote
the physical, moral and spiritual needs of the individual.
- Treat all pupils fairly, fostering
a positive attitude towards themselves and others without
bias of culture, race
or gender.
- Provide opportunities for children
to achieve their full potential in literacy, numeracy and
all other areas.
- Develop positive attitudes through
which children are encouraged to take an active role in
their learning.
- Encourage children to become
both independent and collaborative learners.
- Help children learn to live together
understanding and respecting other people and themselves.
- Work in partnership with parents
and the local community.
